QualTeq to License Proprietary Foil Card® Technology to Plastag Corporation

South Plainfield, NJ-August 15, 2001-QualTeq, Inc., a leading Visa/MasterCard card manufacturer, announced today that it will license one of its patented technologies for the first time in its 20-year history-its proprietary Foil Card® technology. Plastag Corporation, a leading non-secure card manufacturer located in Elk Grove Village, IL, recognizes QualTeq's Foil Card® patent (Patent Number 4,897,533) and will manufacture and sell the Foil Card® through a non-exclusive agreement. Foil Card® is the QualTeq patented card technology of graphically printing over a mirror foil surface of a card. Unlike previous foil card processes, the QualTeq Foil Card® can accept litho and silkscreen inks, foil stamping, lamination, and other applications such as holograms. The non-exclusive license agreement with Plastag will continue for the life of the patent.

"QualTeq has over 15 years of demonstrated product performance in the marketplace with its patented Foil Card® technology; producing more foil cards than any other manufacturer," said Al Vrancart, president of QualTeq. "There are many card manufacturers who improperly reference products in their lines as Foil Cards, which is an infringement on our trademarked and patented technology." Available in a variety of foil colors including gold, silver, and rainbow foils, the material is so versatile it can be adaptable to existing designs or new design concepts. Aside from its aesthetic advantages, the QualTeq Foil Card® is almost impossible to duplicate, adding an additional security feature to the card.
